MICHAEL BOYDEN
Managing Director
TASC Taiwan Asia Strategy Consulting

Associate - Taiwan
Economist Corporate Network
Economist Conferences

Michael Boyden, a British national, has lived and worked in Taiwan since 1989. During that time he has worked in business development for a major local industrial group; as country manager for a MNC in the food & beverage industry; as an associate consultant with KPMG Peat Marwick; as an independent consultant in the hospitality industry; and as Taiwan country manager for a Hong Kong-based management consulting firm. His previous career experience included operations and business development for large service industry companies in the Middle East, south-east Asia, Hong Kong and mainland China.

His association with Economist Conferences (ECF) and Economist Corporate Network (ECN) began in 1995 with overseeing the operation and development of the executive peer group forum. In early 1997 he set up TASC Taiwan Asia Strategy Consulting (TASC) as the corporate platform and exclusive licensee for ECN and ECF-related business, centred on the Taiwan Business Leaders' Forum (TBLF) executive peer group and subsequently developed to include also the organisation of roundtables and similar conference-type events. He is a regular presenter on Taiwan at ECF and ECN meetings and events across the Asia Pacific region.

TBLF, organised and chaired by Michael Boyden, now has over 60 member companies, almost all multinationals, from diverse sectors of industry. There is an annual program of at least 10 scheduled meetings, with additional ad hoc events and a series of sector-specific lunch meetings titled " Meeting of Minds".

TASC also handles consulting assignments for foreign companies and government organisations, chiefly in the areas of market intelligence and assessment, market entry strategies and local economic and industrial analysis. The firm also assists foreign companies in partner search and establishing their presence and operations in Taiwan.

Michael Boyden is also the Managing Associate in Taiwan for the Tokyo-based management training company IWNC Group, founded in Japan by an Englishman, Anthony Willoughby, well over a decade ago and which now provides teambuilding and visions/values/goals alignment courses for multinational and local companies in Japan, mainland China, the Hong Kong SAR and Singapore as well as Taiwan.

Michael is married to Katy (Ho Ching-hui) who is Taiwanese and they live in the Tien Mou district of Taipei city with their young daughter Victoria. Both are involved in community affairs and Michael is a past general committee member and Deputy Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei (BCCT).
