| Benefits
and Entitlements of Corporate Network Membership |
THE
ECONOMIST BRAND
- The
Economist Corporate Network (ECN) of executive peer group
forums operates to the same principles that have made the
Economist Group's flagship - the famous and long-established
weekly newspaper The Economist - renowned worldwide among
leaders in government, industry and the professions : providing
accurate, timely and reliable information to decision-makers.
- The
Economist Corporate Network's sister business unit, the
Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), is similarly well known
for the quality of research going into its portfolio of
country reports, industry studies and management papers.
NETWORKING
- TBLF
is above all a peer group forum only for senior executives,
senior managers and professionals and therefore presents
the opportunity - unique in Taiwan - for the exchange of
views and experiences at this level.
- Membership
is diverse yet balanced : many different industries and
professions are represented, with no one sector dominant.
FOCUS
AND PRODUCTIVITY
- Each
meeting contains about 2.5 hours of presentation time out
of a 3.5 hour spread (i.e. 7.30 - 11.00am ) and each session
is tightly controlled as to timing and delivery of content.
- A TBLF
meeting is essentially part of the executive's working day
- not just another outside activity. The timing and format
- early morning, business-focused - enable him/her to make
a productive start to a full working day.
INTELLECTUAL
CONTENT
- The
TBLF annual program - in which the content is largely chosen
by Members themselves - is designed to give, over the course
of the year, a balanced and informed view of the government
policies, economic/business issues and management matters
that are the crux of the business environment in Taiwan
and the Asia Pacific region.
- Speakers
come from the Economist Group, Taiwan's government, industry,
think-tanks, academia and from within the Membership. Each
is carefully selected for his/her particular expertise and
specialised knowledge of the subject at hand.
- Each
session includes interactive discussion between Members
and speakers.
MANAGEMENT
DEVELOPMENT
- No
other organisation offers as good an opportunity for managers
and executives to enhance their career development and personal
growth through both the content of the meetings and the
interchange of ideas.
"Getting
out of my industry box" is how Members frequently describe
the benefit resulting from discussion of common issues and
problems among executives from diverse industries and professions.
CORPORATE
NOMINEES
- Two
senior executives can be selected as the company's First
and Second Corporate Nominees. The most senior person
in-country is normally the First Corporate Nominee.
- Both
First and Second Corporate Nominees will receive, individually
and directly, all TBLF program information and documentation.
- Each
Corporate Nominee may delegate a colleague to attend
meetings in his/her place, the only stipulation being
that he/she must be of at least reasonably senior managerial
or executive status.
- Corporate
Nominees may invite in-country colleagues, company visitors
and/or professional colleagues along to meetings.
ACCESS
TO REGIONAL NETWORK OR PEER GROUP FORUMS
- The
ECN's Asia Pacific coverage extends to Auckland, Bangalore,
Beijing, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Karachi, Kuala
Lumpur, Manila, Melbourne, Mumbai, New Delhi, Seoul,
Shanghai and Sydney as well as Taipei.
- Corporate
Nominees may attend any meeting of any other ECN peer
group forum in the Asia Pacific and region by requesting
the TBLF office to reserve a place, subject to actual
availability. There is no additional charge.
BRIEFING
AND CONCLUSION PAPERS
- Corporate
Nominees will be alerted to forthcoming meetings by
an agenda and briefing documentation in good time
before the event.
- Presentation
materials used during each meeting are forwarded to
Corporate Nominees shortly after the event, followed
by an executive summary and full transcript of the
entire presentation.
- Nominees
may request briefing and conclusion papers from any
other meeting in the Asia Pacific network.
ACCESS
TO INFORMATION RESOURCES
- The
TBLF office is ready to assist Member Companies with
readily-available database information and opinion
on the business environment in Taiwan and the Asia
Pacific region, drawing on Economist Group sources
and the network of ECN peer group program managers
and Country Associates.
- TBLF
and/or Economist Group analysts are available to provide
private, customised briefings as part of your strategy
evolution and planning process or, say, to update
a visiting executive from headquarters. [Note : these
private briefings may entail a fee]
THE
ECONOMIST NEWPAPER AND ASSOCIATED PUBLICATIONS
- The
First Corporate Nominee will receive a complimentary
subscription to The Economist newspaper for the duration
of membership. [may not apply to some TBLF membership
levels]
- Each
Corporate Nominee receives the monthly "Asia Executive
Brief" , which highlights political and economic developments
across the Asia Pacific region.
DISCOUNTS
- TBLF
Members are entitled to discounts, from time to time
where available, on the purchase of Economist Group
publications and services.
- TBLF
members are entitled to discounts, where offered by
the organisers, on attendance fees for Economist Group
events - such as government and industry Roundtables
- in the Asia Pacific region.
